    Our New Calendar that Updates Itself

    Exciting news: we have a new calendar! It covers every French event in the Fort Collins area, and it lives at fcfrench.org/calendar. It works on your phone. It works on your big screen. No zooming, no scrolling around—it just fits.

    The best part is new: you can subscribe. No, this is not a type of subscription you pay money for. Rather, one click adds the calendar to your Apple or Google Calendar app. Click: 

    webcal://fcfrench.org/calendar.php

    or add that link by hand if you prefer. Then you are done. Every event updates itself. A new event shows up. A change shows up. A cancellation disappears. You never touch a thing, unless you want to toggle the calendar on/off or unsubscribe to it altogether. It’s all very easy.

    Every event now carries a real address, too. No more just “Eddy 108.” You get an actual street address too, right in the calendar. Tap it and navigation opens in Apple Maps or Google Maps. You leave, you drive, you arrive.

    The whole thing pulls two worlds together. It holds our own FCFrench.org events, including the long-running Intermediate Conversation meetups that happen every Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Bean Cycle. It also has all of the CSU Cercle Français events. Ours and theirs, side by side, in one place.

    That is the whole idea. One calendar for every French event nearby. Have a comment or an idea for something I should improve? Leave a comment below. I read them all. Merci !

  • French Speaking Event in Longmont

    Maureen Hearty is hosting a French speaking event at the Moxie Cafe in the Cheese Importers in Longmont.

    She represents local independent publisher Daisy Dog Press and they are having a book celebration of Sister Liberty: a wild tale about French lesbian immigrants who stow away inside the Statue of Liberty’s head.

    This is a free event with light snacks and beverages provided.

    The goal: celebrate local art and local businesses!

    This initiative is offered at the Senior Center of Fort Collins, taught by CSU students of French. This is a program the French Consulate of Los Angeles and CSU’s French department put together and we would love to see a full class this spring!   • In Memory of Michael Loughlin

    It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our dear friend and long-time Fort Collins French member, Michael (Mike) Loughlin. Michael left us suddenly in mid-August, and we will miss him dearly.

    Michael brought a gentle warmth to every get-together—which included attendance at 100% (or very nearly so) of all former French Film & Culture Group gatherings. His good humor, kind spirit, and pleasant nature made him a cherished presence in our community. Whether sharing stories, practicing French, or simply enjoying the company of others, he reminded us of the joy found in connection and conversation.

    For me, his improvement in French over the years was impressive!

    A celebration of Michael’s life will be held on Saturday, September 27 at 1:00 pm, at a home in Terry Shores. Details for RSVP will be available soon.
